Detective investigations in his novels always require professionalism, and are deployed with the assistance of police equipment , which distinguishes them from the stream of " novel problem" or "enigma novel" , where it is assumed that the reader has all indications necessary to solve the mystery itself , rivaling the protagonist of the story , usually an amateur detective.
